In this video, I use a custom USBC Power Supply board to log the current in real time while applying a destructive amount of power to 1/4 watt resistors. The different failure modes of the resistors at different power levels can be seen. An interesting failure mode causes a temporary short, leading to a brief increase in current before the current path is broken completely.
